There is archeological analysis underway at a Roman horse cemetery near Stuttgart in Germany, which promises to be very interesting. Over 100 horses have been found buried in a military context. Not all at once, from a battle, but over the years as they have died. They appear to be the cavalry horses from a fort.Measurements should give us some really good data for Roman cavalry horse sizes and other tests will hopefully show us whether these horses were recruited locally or brought in from another specific horse-breeding region.Does anyone know any more about what is being discovered here?I took the phot. from WikiCommons - just as an excellent eye-catching example of a Roman cavalryman. It is not related to the finds.www.earth.com/news/over-100-roman-warhorses-found-buried-alongside-an-unknown-man/... See MoreSee Less
