Hello and welcome to a pack of new followers. There’s been a sharp upturn following Monday’s post about my DOG FILMS being released on You Tube – so my guess is that a lot of you are dog /dog-history enthusiasts. There is so much more dog history to explore. These first two (bundled together as one in Mondays link) were ‘Dogs of the Tudors’ and ‘Dogs in the Age of Revolutions’. I hope to have the opportunity to make more films that look at the intersections of dog and human history: ‘Dogs of the Classical World’, ‘Dogs of the Middle Ages’, ‘Dogs of the Victorians’, ‘Dogs of the 20th Century’. Let me know which of these you’d most like to see.For those who don’t know I have also written a book about dogs - ‘Dogs: Working Origins and Traditional Tasks’. Here’s a link to a video about it: ... See MoreSee Less

TONIGHT: Worldwide premiere on You Tube – BOTH my films about dogs in history. FREE TO VIEW. youtu.be/MeMsiLfNiVMThe films were released on History Hit’s video subscription channel last year, but now they have decided to share them with you all, for free, on their You Tube channel.Originally these were two films “Dogs of the Tudors” and “Dogs in the Age of Revolutions” - so clues there to what’s covered. Now they have been meshed together into one long 90-minute film, which they have tiled “The Importance of Dogs in History”.This is a great opportunity for those of you who are not paid subscribers to dip in and see the sort of films I make for History Hit. Their hope is that this will tempt you to take a look, at what else the subscription channel has to offer. It is my hope too – I have 9 films in the archive there and more in the pipeline. If you would like to watch the films there (without ads), the original series title was “Dogs: Our Shared History”I’d especially like to make more films about dogs in history, so if this appeals, do support by watching the links and letting History Hit know in the comments that you’d like more content like this. ...
